Founded in 2012, with the aim of providing the highest quality of education in the humanities and social sciences, New College of the Humanities has established itself as a prestigious, university-level college based in the heart of London. Small by design, we offer a unique and broad liberal arts-inspired curriculum with highly personalised teaching, including the tutorial system.
At undergraduate level students can choose a major and a complementary minor subject from the following subject areas: Art History, Creative Writing, Data Science, Economics, English Literature, Law, History, Philosophy, Politics & International Relations, Psychology as well as PPE (Philosophy, Politics & Economics), PPH (Philosophy, Politics & History) and Philosophy & Cognitive Science.
This is supplemented by the College’s enriching diploma which consists of core courses in applied ethics, critical reasoning, science literacy and LAUNCH, our unique professional development programme. LAUNCH is designed to provide students with an understanding of areas such as marketing, teamwork or entrepreneurship; skills that will enable students to stand out in a fiercely competitive graduate recruitment market. The diploma is awarded to graduates in addition to their degree and sets them apart from their peers by emphasising the greater breadth of their education.
Our undergraduate students are taught through our tutorial system, small group seminars and interactive lectures by a teaching faculty of inspiring and experienced academics with a passion for education and research. Our world-class visiting Professoriate, leading academics in their fields, deliver lectures giving our students access to some of the world’s greatest thinkers that is unparalleled at undergraduate level.
At postgraduate level students have the choice of different Masters in the following subject areas: History, Philosophy, Philosophy & AI, Computer Science and a Senior Status Law LLB. Students are taught in small classes and benefit from personalised teaching which enables them to develop their academic prowess. Students will get the individual attention they need to reach their full academic potential and will be able to deepen their understanding of a particular area through their dissertation.
NCH is a truly international and cosmopolitan community of students. Around 40% of our students come from outside the UK, representing more than 40 countries. We offer our students the best of both worlds; students are part of a small, nurturing collegiate institution but are also right in the heart of London allowing them to experience everything London has got to offer.
In 2019 NCH also joined the Northeastern University global network.
