"Arvorum Cultus Pecorumque" meaning 'Caring for the Fields and the Beasts'
When the RAU opened as a College in 1845, it had 25 students. We now have a diverse and welcoming community of around 1,200 students from approximately 40 countries. Our goal is to nurture people’s enthusiasm for the environment, and to help them make a difference by developing their skills and their perspective.
Current global challenges of climate change, environmental protection and food security provide unprecedented opportunities for the land-based sector. The need to produce more food while managing land sustainably, protecting the environment and supporting the wellbeing of rural communities offers a wealth of career options that are open to all our graduates.
We are a truly unique community working together in a small specialist environment to confront issues that are at the heart of our global future. Together we have the potential to foster change through ensuring that all our graduates have the skills necessary to succeed in the future.
We specialise in Agriculture, Food and Environment, Business and Enterprise, Equine Science, Culture and Heritage, Real Estate and Rural Land Management.
We are proud to have been made a Centre of Excellence by the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE), and were named as a top 10 UK university in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2020.
The Royal Agricultural University is a Tier 4 Sponsor and is on the Home Office’s Register of Sponsors.
